Open letter to all SACS Volunteers and Fundraisers:

It is with great appreciation to all of our wonderful supporters of SACS for all you do, as every little bit helps our neighbors who are dealing with the challenges of their cancer diagnosis/treatment.

It has come to our attention though that some of the fundraising being done in our name includes different forms of gambling, such as raffles (bucket/basket, ‘wing-span’ etc.) and ‘boards’ to name a few. These activities are illegal in the State of Wisconsin unless the group running the raffle (boards are illegal no matter what) is a non-profit (501(c)) and has an active Class B (or Class A) license.

As the SACS Board, we cannot condone these activities, as they jeopardize everything SACS works for (Neighbors Helping Neighbors). We understand that it seems that “everyone” does these activities with no issues, but unless the event is sponsored/ approved by the SACS Board, (a board member would need to be involved), SACS does not want to be associated with the event/fundraiser.

The Board hopes that the wonderful volunteers/fundraisers understand our position, and respect the Board’s request in regards to gambling. If anyone has any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to any of the Board Members.

Sincerely,

SACS Board of Directors
